The Macfadyen Shield 2009

Matthew Macfadyen's old school, the Oakham School, where attended from 1985 to 1992, has a competition sponsored by Matthew called the Macfadyen Competition or Macfadyen Shield.

The ten middle school houses produced twenty pieces of devised theatre over two nights, before full audiences in The Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Now in its third year, the competition reached new heights with some outstanding examples of increasingly sophisticated and modern theatre.

Matthew was a member of the Wharflands, which rose from the ashes to win second place.

On an aside, the photo used on the webpage is a cropped version taken with me (cubbie) standing next to Matthew when he was performing in The Pain and The Itch, and one we've shared on Matthew's wiki page.  It's lovely to see it put to such good use!

Telegraph review of Episodes 1 and 2 of Criminal Justice

The Telegraph has a fairly detailed summation and review of Criminal Justice's first two episodes.  You can read the review HERE.

About Matthew Macfadyen:

Matthew Macfadyen may be no stranger to the role of a buttoned-up Englishman who can’t quite conceal the effort that goes into preserving his eerily calm exterior – but rarely has he turned this skill to such sinister effect.
