Sharon Maguire Q&A At Sundance
Incendiary director, Sharon Maguire did a Q&A at Sundance Film Festival. She had this to say about casting Matthew Macfadyen:
With Matthew, that was a surprise piece of casting even for me. He was suggested to me and I thought, no, I had only ever seen him as Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice and I thought he was far too young, handsome, and thin to play that role. But he really wanted to play the role and he wanted to be a character actor rather than play a leading man type role. So he came to see me and said, “I think I can do this.” And I believed he could.

That's great for Matthew not to get casted into a single type role. Well at least now we know a little as to why he got a bit pudgy (chubby) not that I'm complaining there's just more Matthew to love and it shows he wants to go beyond a pretty face on a larger scale. Although while we're at it I can't stand the full on beard. I was for sure a No on the 'Poll' I like shadows and stubbles but something about beards, ugh never!
Hopefully he found it itchy or something so he won't let it grow after he's done playing parts/roles. Not that I wouldn't love him as an actor (he's still brilliant to me no matter what he looks like) yet he's nice to look at and more so without a beard (Tom Quinn anyone?).
