Scaling Back Christmas (Dec 2008)
Today's Sunday Mirror Celeb Magazine has an interview with Matthew Macfadyen and the choice he and Keeley Hawes made to stop buying Christmas presents for their children this year.
Matthew "...say they spent too much on gifts for their kids last year, so will be forgoing them altogether this time around." Home made gifts will be allowed.
"We want the kids to be appreciative of what they're getting, especially as so many children get nothing."

While I understand
While I understand completely, in a way I think it's sad, because his children are so young, and it would be hard for them to understand why Santa would do this to them.
On the other hand, it may not be such a bad thing. Since obviously Matthew is much more talented than me in the areas of cooking and acting, he is probably much more adept at hand made toys. My children would be looking at a pile of broken wood and fingers and paint splatter with dog footprints in it everywhere!
My kids are older now and we took them on a vacation in lieu of presents this year.
