TV hunk Matthew Mac- Fayden and real-life lover Keeley Hawes are quitting the BBC1 hit drama Spooks.

Matthew, 29, will return as MI5 spy Tom Quinn for just two installments of the third series, to be screened in October. His co-star Keeley, who plays sidekick Zoe Reynolds, 29, will leave later.

The couple, who met on set, are expecting their first child together in November.

Heart-throb Cambridge Spies star Rupert Penry-Jones, 33, has been hired as the new male lead.

MacFadyen, lined up to play Mr Darcy in a movie version of Pride and Prejudice, said: "Your senses get dull doing a long- running TV show. I can feel my skills getting a bit saggy."
