Private Lives

Private Lives will head to Broadway in fall of 2011

But will Matthew Macfadyen be able to star opposite Kim Cattrall?  Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail reports that Kim Cattrall has confirmed the following:

"She confirmed to me that in the autumn of next year she will star in Private Lives on Broadway.

Richard Eyre directed her in the Noel Coward play in Bath and the Vaudeville in the West End.

Her hilarious turn as Amanda Prynne was acclaimed by critics, and she's hoping Matthew MacFadyen, who played Elyot, will be able to join her for the New York run."

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Private Lives

Today, Private Lives ended its London run.  Several members of the forum ended and here are a few of the comments:

sopheezmum: It was more enthusiastic and even more energetic than before, if that's possible. The cast got a standing ovation at the end, and there were several bursts of spontaneous applause during the play.

n9037: ...I thought it was even better this time. The chemistry between Kim and Matthew is amazing. And Simon is hilarious as Victor. I thought the audience were great too - loved the spontaneous clapping throughout!

cellisticone: Just got back from the closing performance - it was a fantastic show!

Congratulations to all!

More about a possible Broadway run for Private Lives

Matthew has been repeatedly asked about confirmation of a Broadway run for Private Lives.  He has remained noncommittal.  However, last night, a New Yorker visiting London was able to ask Matthew if they (the producers) were still considering taking the production to NYC.  Matthew replied "Yes, definitely, if they can get it sorted out." She asked for how long, and he said 6-8 weeks or so but he confirmed that they're still working out issues with it.Thanks to the NYC fan who asked and forum member Splatt who shared the information with us.Keep your fingers crossed that a Broadway run with Matthew will happen!

Matthew confirms he will attend the Cannes premiere of Robin Hood

Matthew Macfadyen spoke to forum member, Marina, at the stage door and confirmed that he will attend the premiere of Robin Hood at the Cannes Film Festival on 12 May.

A huge thank you to Marina and Luce who are both stuck in London because of the closure of the London airports due to volcanic ash.  They are putting their extra time in London to good use!

Also, our sympathies go out to several Darcylicians who will be missing Private Lives in London because of international flights which have been delayed or canceled.
